Sick at Work

When you think of being sick at work it doesn't necessarily bring to mind rudeness but it is in fact a big rudeness factor in my opinion.

I didn't really think about this until after I had children, a husband, and a house.
Unfortunately I was one of those folks who stayed at work to "prove I was dedicated".

I didn't learn until years later when a co-worker who was always encouraging people to go home when they weren't feeling better that while she was being nice she was also into self-preservation.

When you go in to work sick you don't just affect yourself and your well being but that of those around you. It surprises me in this day and age how many folks still do this for whatever reason.

I would think that with all the crazy viruses, etc. today that people would be more aware of not only themselves but everyone around them.

In short, it's just plain rude.

Now I know, and lots of folks will tell me, I can't always go home because my boss won't let me or I need the money and I have no sick days left.

The only problem with this scenario is that you yourself will feel worse in the long run while possibly infecting all of those around you who are then going to bring it to their houses and their kids and themselves.

I am lucky at this stage in life to have a supervisor who understands that I may be out not only with my children being sick but with me as well.

Life is too short people to have deal with the type of supervisor or work environment that if you don't come in all is going to perish, or those folks that make sure if you are out they make your life a living hell the next day by nitpicking everything you didn't get done the day before.

Now there are exceptions of course, those being hypochondriacs and such and the only thing I would say to those is;  Hey! Don't ruin it for the rest of us!!  If you aren't going in all the time because you stay up too late the night before or you really don't want to go in cause you hate your job then take a good look and make sure it's not time for a change so that the real sick folks can stay home!
